Database Engineer

This is a great opportunity to take your engineering career to the next level with a major financial institution.

Ideally coming with 2-4 years’ experience in data or database engineering, ideally covering 2 of the following; Oracle, Couchbase, Cassandra, PostGRES or MongoDB.

You will work closely with application development teams to select, design and promote performant databases to Production.

2-4 years’ experience in the following;

NoSQL – Mandatory Couchbase and/or Cassandra (other nosql a bonus)

RDBMS – Mandatory Postgres (SQL Server or Oracle a bonus)
Linux/bash, DevOps skills (GIT, Liquibase, Ansible, Terraform, Jenkins, Python) and be used to working in an agile environment (Rally, Jira, Confluence, Kanban).
Knowledge of database implementation on the Cloud would be a bonus but not essential.

How will you make an impact in this role?

Work closely with development teams to produce world class Applications on the most suitable database platform.
Update and improve these systems for best performance and high availability.
Understand the business need and the best way to make this a reality in an agile environment.
Adapt to new technology and develop new skills. This is not a Production DB Support role although some skills in that area may be beneficial.
