The role focuses on the installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of database systems, as well as supporting infrastructure. It includes handling tasks across the database lifecycle, from setup and updates to security and monitoring. Knowledge of DevOps tools and processes to manage build, deployment, and automation tasks.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Database Management:

    • Install, upgrade, and remove database software.
    • Create, upgrade, and remove databases.
    • Apply patches and execute parameter changes.
    • Manage database security, roles, and privileges.
    • Perform database refreshes, cloning, migrations, and troubleshooting.
  2. Infrastructure & Support:

    • Manage database-related software and tools.
    • Monitor schema and database performance.
    • Detect and resolve blocking locks.
    • Execute deployments and address broken database jobs.
  3. DevOps & Automation:

    • Use tools like Jenkins, Bamboo, GIT, SVN for CI/CD.
    • Manage build and deployment automation with Maven, GO, Ant, or Gradle.
    • Handle software configuration management via Puppet or Chef.
  4. System Maintenance:

    • Perform OS-level patching and backups.
    • Monitor technology stack performance.
    • Maintain Configuration Management Database (CMDB) information.
Skills Needed:
  • Strong database management skills (e.g., installations, upgrades, performance tuning, troubleshooting).
  • Familiarity with DevOps tools and processes (CI/CD, automation).
  • Experience with configuration management tools (Puppet, Chef).
  • Knowledge of database security, schema management, and infrastructure monitoring.
The ideal candidate should:

  • Have strong technical expertise in managing databases and related infrastructure.
  • Be comfortable with DevOps practices and tools for automation and deployment.
  • Show proficiency in troubleshooting and optimizing the entire database stack.
  • Be capable of managing both security roles and performance monitoring.
  • Have experience in integrating and maintaining automation and configuration tools.

This is a 9 month contract, starting in January 2026, based in Hilversum. Hybrid working has been agreed- 3 days at site per week and 2 days from home.

An hourly rate , depending on experience is between 70 -85 Euros per hour.
