About the Role
As a Staff Data Engineer, you'll play a pivotal role in driving our organization's data-driven transformation. Join our dynamic Reporting and Data Science team and lead the migration from legacy systems to a cutting-edge data platform. Your expertise will be instrumental in setting technical standards, ensuring data integrity, and building a robust infrastructure that empowers our organization to make informed decisions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Data Pipeline Leadership: Design, develop, and maintain high-performance data pipelines that are scalable, well-documented, and aligned with our strategic objectives.
  • Monitoring and Alerting: Implement robust monitoring systems to proactively identify and address data quality issues, ensuring data integrity and reliability.
  • Legacy System Migration: Oversee the seamless transition from legacy systems to the new data platform, minimizing downtime and optimizing data migration processes.
  • Platform Development: Create a foundational data platform and framework that supports the work of various data teams across the organization, fostering collaboration and efficiency.
  • Standards Enforcement: Establish and maintain data engineering standards, promoting best practices and ensuring consistency across the organization.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive ongoing enhancements to our data infrastructure, identifying opportunities for optimization and innovation to improve data quality and efficiency.
Qualification
  • Proven track record in building and managing large-scale data pipelines in complex environments.
  • Deep expertise in data orchestration and processing tools (e.g., Apache Airflow, Google Cloud Dataflow, Metaflow).
  • Advanced SQL skills, particularly in handling big data environments and complex queries.
  • Strong software engineering background with a focus on Python development and experience with distributed systems.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, able to bridge technical and non-technical teams effectively.
  • Proven ability to drive projects independently and manage cross-functional teams.
  • In-depth knowledge of BigQuery, CI/CD tools, and containerization technologies like Docker is a plus.
  • Pragmatic problem-solving skills with a strong focus on delivering results and meeting tight deadlines.
